The mythical G702 “BeiBei” is one of those phones that feels like it’s released, even though it’s not, simply because it’s been scooped into oblivion on countless occasions at this point. Heck, it’s not even announced yet. But, you know, if there was anything else you still needed to know about this touchscreen UIQ-based candybar, look no further than YouTube, where a brief Sony Ericsson-produced promotional video for the G702 has surfaced. We see a few seconds of the stylus in action, and that’s about it; anyone left wanting more is probably going to have to wait until June 17, when it appears the company will be throwing an event in Amsterdam. It’s presumed that the G702 will be announced here, possibly alongside the Paris — though we’re well accustomed to disappointment, so we’re going to try to keep our toyed-with emotions in check here until we see something official.

We know that Nokia’s got a version of its recently-announced 6124 classic midrange S60 candybar designed to support i-mode, but it’s not meant for NTT DoCoMo itself; instead, it’s being shipped off to Taiwan where Far EasTone licenses the i-mode service. New FCC documents reveal that the mothership might want a piece of the action, too, though. Actually, never mind the “might” — the carrier’s logo is pretty clearly emblazoned across the rear, so we’re going to go ahead and say that Japanese S60 fans can look forward to another munition in their relatively thin arsenal sometime soon.
Update: Yep, it’s the NM706i that was recently announced. This will be “Mysterious Black,” we presume, alongside the Cloudy White and Passionate Red that we’ve seen pictures on NTT DoCoMo’s site.

A retailer taking pre-orders for phones that haven’t even been announced is considered business as usual, but there’s something just a little out of the ordinary with Horizon Wireless’ listing for the alleged touchscreen superphone outta Waterloo, the BlackBerry 9500 “Thunder” — it’s accompanied by a somewhat believable picture of the thing. Extreme blur always adds a healthy dose of credibility (we kid), but more importantly, the picture shows no telltale signs of being a render and looks essentially like what everyone’s expecting it to look like. BlackBerry addicts who’ve been desperately fighting the urge to go to the dark side, consider this your shot of willpower for the day.

Rumors of a successor to Pantech’s Duo for AT&T just got a little more believable this week thanks to a new FCC filing for a device matching the model number we’d been told to look out for. The C820’s posterior here certainly looks the part of a dual slider smartphone, and the inclusion of WCDMA 850 / 1900 pretty much locks up AT&T as the destination — so the only question left is whether it’s the 2 megapixel Windows Mobile 6.1 baddie we’re hoping for, or just some random milquetoast messenger for the low end. The smart money still says it’s the former, but Murphy and his stupid law just love to prove us wrong in these sorts of situations.

Lookee here — this week’s How Would You Change writeup over on Engadget Classic has an awful lot to do with the mobile realm. You know, particularly since the device in question is LG’s Vu. If you’ve recently snagged one from AT&T, why not head on over and sound off about your experiences? It’s a quick trip, we promise.

So the phone everyone thought was going to be the 7310 classic (Nokia’s been in the habit of appending “classic” to midrange phones lately, don’t'cha know) turns out to be the 7310 Supernova, a rather fantastical name for a rather ordinary candybar. The phone’s now available in parts of Asia — and probably won’t make it outside of the Asian market, either, on account of a triband GSM radio that mopes along at EDGE speeds. Series 40 comes through loud and clear on a 2 inch QVGA display, while an FM radio, 2 megapixel camera, and microSD slot should be enough to keep users entertained for a while. Look for the 11.95mm-thick chunk of mirror finish to retail for something in the range of $230 in pink or blue.

DigiTimes has it that HTC has already shipped its first batch of over 10,000 Touch Diamond mobiles to Hong Kong CSL, which has consequently sent our saliva glands into overdrive. The report continues on to say that deliveries to European / Asia-Pacific operators should get going in June, though no further details were mentioned. Meanwhile, North Americans are left to weep softly to keep from embarrassment.

Finally, the ultimate dream of all iPhone owners has come to pass: TurboGrafx-16 emulation. Thanks once again to the massive talents at ZodTTD, Apple’s phone has gotten another piece of the emulator puzzle in the form of Temper4iphone, a fully functioning recreation of everyone’s favorite under-performing game console. The app can play both TurboGrafx and PC-Engine games, as well as CD-based ROMs. Right now the software is only available to beta testers (and donation-makers), though it’s expected to hit wide release soon. Check the video after the break and see for yourself.

It’s looking like Google will do what it can to provide an application store on Android-based handsets (see that “Market” icon above?). As project lead Andy Rubin mentioned at the Google I/O developer conference, “It would be a great benefit to the Android community to provide a place where people can go to safely and securely download content and where a billing system would allow developers to get paid for their effort”. So, two things of note here: 1) He wants to avoid malware and untested apps bricking people’s phones, and 2) Google would like a little side action on your transaction. Given the open nature of Android, we fully expect many people to find all sorts of random apps online in the dark alleys of the Intertrons, but a sanctioned store like this seems like a no-brainer for those on the straight-and-narrow.

If you just can’t get enough news about Sony Ericsson’s forthcoming Symbian UIQ touchscreen phone — currently known as Paris — perhaps this promo video of the thing in action can help. Sure, these appears to be pre-renders, but it does whet the appetite for things to come with the device, and who can complain about that pop-up weather app and confirmation that this will have a flash for its camera? Also, the dude in the clip sports a totally stylish cardigan. Watch the whole thing after the break and see for yourself.
